SDVBCA Letter
Dear Coach,
This letter is a quick introduction to the new partnership between the SDVBCA and Daktronics. Our goal this season is to collect statewide stats for all volleyball teams. We are counting on your participation to make this a success.
Over the last few years, we have attended coaches meeting to discuss standardized stats. During these meetings we've floated the idea of collecting volleyball stats on a statewide level. We've consistently received positive interest. As a result, we presented recently at the Coaches Clinic in Aberdeen where the coaches encouraged us to move forward with this effort. We've been working with Nora Groft and Ruth Rehn to pull this together for the 2007 season.
Since you may not have been able to attend these discussions, let me briefly present the information that was discussed.
- Daktronics will be providing DakStats software to all volleyball coaches at no charge. DakStats is simply a software tool that makes it easier to track stats for each match. You can do stats by hand and enter them in the DakStats software after the match. Entering stats after a match takes about 5 minutes. DakStats then gives you instant access to match, season and career reports. You do have the option to do live stats. if you choose. You can download DakStats at www.dakstats.com.
- To report your stats, you simply need to click the Web-Sync button in DakStats. We have a brief guide that will help you set this up.
- Your results will be put online with results from all South Dakota volleyball teams. Every team and player will have a site that is dedicated to their stats. Stats leaders will also be available by Class, Region, District and Conference. We already do this for groups like the NAIA. Let me assure you that our intent isn't to add some lengthy process or task that will take up a lot of your time. In fact, we hope that by using DakStats you'll actually save time in regards to tracking stats for your team. We also feel that this will draw positive attention to South Dakota volleyball. It will give media a place to go for information, recruiters a better way to find your players and a common platform to recognize outstanding athletes throughout the season.
Your participation is key. We'd like South Dakota to be the first state to collect statewide stats reporting for any sport. Other associations will follow your lead.
